Well, it seems that midnight sun finally managed to totally confuse us. We were watching Godfather until 4 in the morning. The movie was great - after all it is classics. I don't know was it 10th or 15th time when I watched Godfather. But Mila watched it for the first time. It is always a special feeling when you watch a movie with someone who hasn't yet seen it, isn't it? And the Godfather - do you remember in "You've got mail" Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks: "What is so special about men and the Godfather?", "The Godfather is the I Ching. The Godfather is the sum of all wisdom. The Godfather is the answer to any question. What should I pack for my summer vacation. Leave the gun, take the connoli. What day of the week is it? Mounday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday."
Anyway, after getting up at 12 with a headache we couldn't think of any fishing for today. Instead, we decided to go out of the woods to meet civilisation. The nearest villages were Enontekiö and Hetta, and that was where we went.
First place we've visited was Enontekiö airport. What can I say... I thought Oulu airport was small. But seriously, that is great to have a possibility to fly here directly from Helsinki, saving 1200km drive. Airport was closed, so we just looked at it from outside.
Then we've visited Nature center in Hetta. Small, but nice museum. What I liked the most was the map of the world where you can put a pin to mark a place where you came from. Europe was pretty much covered with pins, except for Sweden. There are only two explanations I found for this phenomena. Either Swedes never go here or they don't like pins.
We had dinner in a hotel restaurant in Enontekiö. It was all right. I should still say I'd rather have eaten potatoes made on a bonfire.
There are two gas stations in Enontekiö. One is Esso and the over Teboil. For some reason Esso was trying to sell 95 octane for 1.37€/l. For a moment it made me think that there's been another oil crisis or another war while we were in the forest.
But the best thing happened on our way back. We saw a reindeer on the road and even took a picture of it. Luckily it was on a long stretch and we say him early enough to break from 100kmph, in on the picture you can still see it alive :)
Weather is quite consistent - 10 degrees end cloudy. Adventure continues...
