Ivan: And now about our schedule. Me and Mila left Tampere on early morning of Midsummer's eve - 24th of June, 2005. Our destination was a small cottage on Muotkajärvi lake in Enontekiö, some 1200km north from Helsinki, where we are staying for a week. Then on 2nd of July Alex will come by train to Kolari, where we will meet to start the second part of our journey - see post about the map. So that is the plan. And let's see what the fate has prepared for us.
Ivan: Before we'll continue to blog about our journey I'd like to make some introductions and explanations. There are three of us. Me (Ivan), my wife Mila and our very dear friend Alex. Me and Alex both work for Nokia, although in totally different departments and even cities. At the same time we all live in Tampere. I believe that idea to go to the real North first appeared some years ago. Myself and Alex have both spent some time living, working and studying in Raahe and Oulu - both these cities are quite far north. At the same time idea to create a blog about this journey was born just recently. And thanks to the great technology created by Nokia Lifeblog team (which I am proud to be a part of) we will be able to blog right from the wilderness of Lapland. We're using the latest and greatest mobile devices - Nokia N90s to record the events during our trip and share them with the rest of the world :)
